Lisett Llorens
Contemporary Painter
Lisett Llorens is a contemporary painter whose work is shaped by a life lived across continents. Through expressive palette-knife technique and vibrant chromatic layering, she creates immersive landscapes inspired by global experience and the natural world.
Lisett Llorens was raised in La Paz, Bolivia, and spent much of her life traveling the world as the spouse of a U.S. diplomat. Her 35-year international journey has included living in ten countries across five continents. This extraordinary path introduced her to a rich tapestry of cultures and landscapes, from Washington, DC; Madrid; and Buenos Aires to Vancouver, Sydney, Paraguay, Honduras, El Salvador, and Kabul, Afghanistan.
Her life has been deeply enriched by the splendor of the natural world. She has hiked the majestic Andean peaks and emerald rainforests of her native Bolivia, witnessed the midnight sun along the Arctic Circle in the Yukon Territory, swum in black volcanic-sand beaches in El Salvador, fished pristine rivers in Patagonia, and experienced the stark beauty of the Australian Outback. These profound encounters with both nature and culture continue to inform the emotional depth and atmospheric quality of her work.
Lisett studied Communication Sciences at the Catholic University of La Paz. Her international professional career included service at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver; the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa; management of the Cultural Book Program at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires; and leadership as Director of Communications for USAID’s Education Programs in Kabul, Afghanistan. She also held leadership roles within diplomatic communities in Madrid and Sydney. Throughout her life, she has remained deeply committed to service, volunteering with numerous humanitarian and charitable organizations worldwide. These global experiences have shaped the cultural perspective, discipline, and cross-cultural sensitivity that define her artistic practice.
In her artistic formation, Lisett studied fashion and jewelry design at the Donato Delego School in Buenos Aires and received private instruction from artists in Buenos Aires, Vancouver, Madrid, Sydney, and the United States. Ultimately self-taught, she developed a distinctive visual language marked by expressive palette-knife technique, layered textures, and a refined sensitivity to color. Her work balances intuitive movement with disciplined craftsmanship and a jeweler’s eye for detail.
Lisett’s paintings are held in distinguished private collections throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. Recognized by international curators and gallery directors, her work is featured in Singulart’s curated global collections.
Artist Statement
Having lived most of my life overseas, I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to experience the world through many cultural lenses. Travel and immersion in diverse landscapes have profoundly shaped both my life and my artistic vision.
I am inspired by the color, light, and emotional richness of the natural world. Working primarily in acrylic with a palette knife, I build my compositions through layers of vibrant color and tactile texture. I am drawn to the physicality of paint — how light interacts with raised surfaces and how depth emerges through movement and chromatic harmony.
Nature remains my constant dialogue. I do not seek to replicate a landscape exactly, but to translate its atmosphere — the feeling of standing within it. Forests, oceans, and open horizons become spaces of reflection, memory, and emotion.
Alongside my textured landscapes, I explore a contemporary pointillist approach that allows imagination to guide form and rhythm. Through intricate marks and luminous color relationships, I create compositions that celebrate visual energy and discovery.
I hope my paintings convey the same joy and sense of wonder that I experience while creating them.
